Bible Study and more garden gold

good morning wonderful people.          it's another cold in my neck of the woods this morning.        we donned our winter clothes and made our morning walk and it sure was s chilly one.        so happy to be back home, warm and sipping our morning coffee.        I hope I can remember to come back here this summer when it's above 100 degrees and read some of how I complained about it being so cold.       oh, I'll  forget all about it being cold and complain anyway.          after all, I'm just a human and we've seen since Jan 1 how the people of God have a always complained.         so I'm no different.       but I'll try not to complain too much.       I am still looking forward to getting some seeds started soon.        that's what makes gardening and the thoughts of it become real to me.        I hope you have something to look forward also.       new life on the "deck-stead", that's what I'm looking forward too.    hahahaha       I think I  may have just created a new word.       "deck-stead", remember, you seen it here first!!!

----------------

let's go do another "2 minutes in the kitchen with me".          I really love turning what I used to put in the trash, into compost.          it's so easy to save everything that I would have thrown away.         this batch had more egg shells in it and you can see them as the white specks in the compost and also on the side of the bucket.        this pic looks really weird, like an oddball eye or something, but I took it aiming down inside the bucket and this is as good as I could get.         everything looked weird.

this batch had egg shells, coffee grounds, coffee filter, paper towel, orange peels and lots of veggie scraps from getting together all the fixings for our salads.        and and all scraps go in the bucket.       it's such a win win for now and I'm so excited to be able to get free compost from my own kitchen scraps.

the only thing that I haven't put in it yet and I don't see me ever putting in it is meat, meat scraps or meat fat or oils of any kind.          I just don't want to attract the wrong kind of critters to my garden.         I don't know the meats and meat scraps would process.          but I think I'll probably be making bone meal with any bones that I make bone broth with.          when I make bone broth, I'll cook the bones for about 8 or 10 hours  in my epc and then the bones are very soft.  you can crumble them in your fingers easily.

so I don't know if this is anything that would interest you or not, but if it does, I would encourage you to go for it.        I love salvaging stuff from my trash and turning it into garden gold.         I love it!!!

picking up in 1 Samuel Chapter 3 and we see this is where Samuel gets the call from God to be a prophet while he was still just a boy.         the books of Samuel are filled with many fascinating stories of how God provides for His people.        He will not be mocked.         none of the pagan gods are even a slight match for the I AM THAT I AM.          we need to remember that today.          the promises of God for them, still holds true for us today.        when we seek to serve Him, he will bless our efforts.  every time.         the ark of the Lord was holy and not to be messed with.         they had not handled it with the respect and the way God had told them to handle it and He killed over 50 thousand people for opening and looking into the ark.         Samuel was now a grown man and serving the Lord in his prophet role and spoke to the people telling them if they were returning to the Lord with their whole heart, they needed to get rig of all the pagan gods.       are we willing to get rid of our pagan gods?        are we still gonna worship actors apers mimickers, singers, sports figures and politicians as our pagan gods?         if so, then we will stay on the slippery down hill slide to destruction.        the word Ebenezer, or rock of help, comes from Chapter 7.        do a  word study  on it and find out just how rich and deep the word is.        is God our rock, stone of help?           at one point in time, during the bible reading, God told the people, "when you want a king.......".          God already knew that they would want what the other countries had.       they all had kings.        Israel had God, but they  wanted a king.         God wanted to be their king.       we  sometime refer  to Jesus as King  Jesus, in  my mind, that's why.        He is our King.         and God wanted to be the King of Israel.        God reminded Samuel that they had not rejected him, but they had rejected God.        the same holds true today.        if you're witnessing to someone and they reject Jesus, they're rejecting you, they're rejecting King Jesus, which has far worse end results.        I'd rather someone reject me and accept Christ, than to reject Christ.       they're eternity is in the balance.        this is what God was telling Samuel.       be careful what you ask for, you just might get it.

we'll pick up in 1 Samuel Chapter 9 next time.

I hope everyone has a most glorious day today.       remember that when we up, we are facing a wonderful gift to used up and spent wisely.        how will you spend your day today?        how will I spend my day?       I pray we all make good decisions.          blessings on your day!!         hugs and love, patty

Bible Study and chicken corn chowder

good morning my friends.           I pray that we all had a restful night of sleep and ready to face the new day ahead of us.         I look forward to another warm, sunshiny day.         the temps finally got warm enough yesterday to melt a blob of icy snow that had been in the shade by our deck ever since the first snow in early january.        we kept watching it and it did get snowed on one other time, but figured it was hanging on for a few more inches.          no doubt, we'll have some more snow.        hopefully it will be later on, so it won't hang around for a month.         I am looking forward to getting some seeds started for my container garden.        maybe by the end of the week of the first of next week.         I'll try to remember to take pics.

---------------

it's time to crack out the electric pressure cooker again.          also time for another "2 minutes in the kitchen with me".             we love to keep chicken corn chowder in the fridge.           it's one of our favorite fast foods that I like to have on hand.           it just takes about 30 minutes in the epc and then time to get some of the cheesy ingredients mixed into it after it's cooked.         it is fabulous!!!!!!

I really wish you could smell this right now, you'd be hooked just by smelling it.          it's dynamite!!!

we both love it and I know you would too.        this is what I consider our fast food.      I always have a homemade cornbread swirl to go with the chicken corn chowder.          the combo is the perfect meal for us.        I hope you try it sometime.     I think the recipe is on here somewhere, just look for chicken corn chowder and it should pop up.

--------------------------

picking up in Judges Chapter 19 and the Levites are still without a leader and they are still constantly sinning against God.       evil and wickedness has been in every generations since the beginning of time and it's still here in all it's evil and wicked fashion.          God helped the collective men of Israel have revenge for an evil and wicked act.        when God is in it, success is at hand.        there was still no and everyone was doing right in their own eyes.        they were not doing what was right in the eyes of God.

next we come to the book of Ruth and they still had judges and no king.          the story of Ruth is a beautiful story of redemption.         it is just one of the resemblances of the redemption of Christ in the Old Testament.        a very special picture of what real love looks like.         and in this chapter, the lineage of David is shared.

now we go into the first book of Samuel.        to have the boldness and faith of Hannah!!!!!

I hope and pray that God is revealing to your heart, all that He wishes to.         we are living in evil and wicked days today and I see that no matter the time in which we live, God wants our heart, our love and worship and He wants to give us everything He has.       just imagine an eternity with Him.      I hope and pray that's what we're all striving for.       I don't understand everything I read in the bible, why this happened or why that happened, but I do know that God provided for me, the perfect sacrifice, in His Son, Jesus Christ who is my Redeemer.       I don't know why He done that, but I'm forever grateful that He did!!!!

we will continue with 1 Samuel 3 next time.

-------------------------

well, I guess this is where we will call it quits today.          I hope and pray that we all have a great day and that we remember to keep God first place in all that we do.          blessings of grace and mercy be ours today.          hugs and love, patty

Bible Study and pork loin in the epc

good morning my friends, from my thawed out neck of the woods.         woohoo!!!!         yesterday it got up to 52 degrees!!!!!           that's the warmest it's been all year!!      I hope that's a new trend for us for a little bit anyway.        it's still very much winter, but those nice days give us a taste of what can be and hopefully, will be in the near future.        I was bust in the kitchen of the day yesterday and you will be reading all about it at some point in time.        I hope that I can maintain the pace of posting daily, at least for the foreseeable future.       it's been hard to keep the pace up, but I'll try to keep at it.       it's been good for me to get back in to my blog like I have.        and I do believe that commenting about my Bible Study is what's helping to stay the course, for now anyway.       we'll see, but for now I am enjoying it and I hope y'all are too.

----------------

so yesterday was aldi day.          I made my weekly pilgrimage to aldi and got the necessities and while I'm it, I always like pick up something that's not quite a necessity, if the money is available.          so join me for a quick "2 minutes in the kitchen with me" and I'll tell you about it.        one of the thing I like to pick up if I'm not in need of a lot of usual stuff is a pkg of meat.

this time I got a pkg of pork loin.        it had 2 good sized pieces in the pkg.         so I diced and an onion and put a a couple of tablespoons of garlic in the electric pressure cooker (epc), added the 2 pieces of pork loin and last but not least, I opened my can of cranberry sauce and just slid it in along with about a quarter cup of water.         I set the epc for an hour and 30 minutes and forgot about it.

before I put the pork loin in the epc, I did trim all the fat and hard connective tissue from the meat.        I just didn't want that to deal with after the rest of it was fall apart tender.

once it was done, I let it cool off before I tried to handle it because I knew it was fall apart tender.      once it was cool enough, I scooped out the 2 pieces of pork loin and put them in my largest lock and lock container, along with all the gravy that was made and popped them in the fridge for the night.

today, I got it from the fridge and started portioning it out to put in the freezer for quick meals later on and I couldn't be more pleased.            the pics is of what it looked like once it was cooked and divvied up this morning.       I just didn't think to get pics before and during, only after.         one of these days, I'll remember what I need to remember and get pics, start to finish of something.

when I started divvying the meat up, I would take a chunk with tongs and then use my kitchen shears to cut it up.          we don't like long pieces of stringy meat, no matter how tender it is.        so I cut this up and it will be perfect for however I decide to use it.          you can see 3 of those containers have the broth/gravy over them and 1 of them doesn't.          the 3 with the broth/gravy went to freezer camp and the other one went on our salads for lunch and it was a meal fit for the golden age we now live in.        if ya know ya know.         but it really was great on the salad.         so, if you see pork loins and have a can of cranberry sauce, you to can make this and enjoy some now and some later.         I love having this in the freezer for pretty quick meals.          I know one batch will be put over rice.        if you try something like this, I sure would love to know about it.          I love having some quick freezer meals ready and waiting and I know you would too.

-----------------------------

today we pick up at Judges Chapter 9.        we see nothing, if we don't see that Israel has fallen away from God again.        sometimes we see that it's easy to make the wrong decision.         I hope and pray that I never make the wrong decision that costs 70 people their lives.        some people are just evil and wicked to the bone and Abimelech was.         but he didn't get away with it, God always exacts revenge and He did with Abimelech.          the Israelites was eager to serve every god in the land except the One True God!!!         why is that?        I guess that's the age old question.        judge after judge came and died and after each ones death, they served other gods.          then the anger of the Lord burns against them and He lets them be sold into slavery.         they cry out to God and said they had sinned by serving other gods and God told them to cry out to the gods they had been worshiping and let them save you.   they cried out once again and said that we have sinned, do to us what ever you please, just save us.      they got rid of all the foreign gods and God could no longer look upon their misery.       time and time again, we see that the Israelites done evil in the sight of the Lord.        this particular time He turned them over to the Philistines for 40 years.        then along comes Samson.        Samson was deceived by his wife.       with that deception came great destruction.         then there's Micah.        one of the questions that remains for me, is why is it so hard for us to remain faithful to the One has forever been faithful to His people?          why are we so eager to turn out backs on the Lord?

I'm no better than they are, truly I'm not.         because I do the same thing!!!!         I do!!!!        we all do, we all have, and we will all continue to betray the Lord at every turn because the devil is cunning, sly and wicked and he knows we are weak.        Lord, help me to be strong and trust in You only!!!!        fight the devil for me Lord, because I can't fight him, but I know You can!!!       I want to serve You wholeheartedly, that is my desire.       please help me Lord!!!

----------------------

I hope and pray that you have a blessed day today and that you know that God is the reason, the only reason you got to be a part of this day.       blessings of joy, peace and mercy be yours today.         hugs and love, patty

Bible Study and.............

good morning from the frozen tundra, aka my neck of the woods.          hahahaha          how was that for a dramatic beginning this morning?          hahahaha          well, it's somewhat true.         it is frozen, with a temp of 30 degrees.        it's been hanging in at 30 ever since last evening.        the snow has since stopped.           it snowed hard all day.        most of the day it was small flakes at other times it was larger flakes.         the temp got up to 36 degrees while it was snowing, so it was melting on the bottom side and piling up on the top.       so at best, we got about 4 measurable inches.        I don't mind telling ya, that I'm more than satisfied that we didn't get any more than that.        I'll take it any day as opposed to being snowed in for many many days.           thank you Lord for hearing my plea.        I want to go see my Momma in another state and we don't get out in the bitter cold anymore.         so hopefully in a day or two, we'll be able to run up to see her.

--------------

well, this is what looked like out the back door about 2:30 pm friday afternoon.          at the time that I was putting this in the blog post, it was still snowing, with the expectation of it continuing on till about 9 pm on friday night.        it actually warmed up while it was snowing and it was piling up on top and melting on the bottom.         so depending on the temps over night, it could be treacherous.       we'll have to wait and see.        we don't plan on getting out unless we absolutely have to.        and I pray we don't have to.

so I'll update on what the weather does.          I hope wherever  you are that you can stay warm and safe and have plenty of comfort foods to get you thru till the weather breaks.         have I told you that I'm so looking forward to spring!!!!!        come on spring!!!!!      hahahaha        thank you Lord for your safety and protection thus far.
--------------

picking back up in Exodus 14 we see that Pharaoh has decided that he want's the Hebrews back in his possession.          that's what sin does, it comes chasing after us.          the devil is relentless and doesn't want to give us up once he has his vice grip on us.       but God!!!         that's 2 important words to always remember, but God.        when God shows up on the scene, the impossible just became possible.

God kept hardening the heart of Pharaoh to show the Israelites and the Egyptians the power, might and strength of "I AM THAT I AM".         God wanted them all to see that was the ONE and ONLY TRUE GOD.         God wanted to submit to Him of their own free will, or not.        that's the way God still is, He hasn't changed anything about Himself.         He wants us to submit to Him of our own free will, and nothing else.         that's the only way we can be in relationship with Him is thru free will.       He will not make us submit to Him.

we see the Israelites are wanting to go back to the familiarity of know sin, the slavery they were in as opposed to moving forward into the unknown freedom from sin.       that's exactly how it is today.       we long for the known sin as opposed to walking in unknown freedom.          having witnessed such a mighty miracle, the people believed in the Lord their God, for the moment anyway.

in chapter 15 they sang a song of praise to God.        I sing a lot when I'm in the kitchen doing what I can do for my husband and myself.        it's where I serve the Lord the best.       notice they mentioned the "right hand of God" a couple of times.        you'll see several times throughout scripture where the "right hand of God" is mentioned.        I hope you get curious enough to do some digging into that phrase and see exactly what it means.          upon having salvation thru the right hand of God for a short time, it didn't take long for the grumbling to start.         isn't that how we are?         yes, that's exactly how we are.        if you don't believe me, just listen to the grumbling that takes place the next time you're at church.         you'll hear it.

I did mention grumbling.         it gets worse in chapter 16.         have you ever eaten manna?         neither have I.          but I guess one can get tired of anything, even being fed directly by the "right hand of God".         manna and quail, provided by God.          all they had to was pick it up.       following instructions has always been a hard thing for humans to do.          it just has.          but God has never given up on us.          God fed them for 40 years.

chapter 17 and 18, the people are grumbling again.         this is the most familiar action and reaction we see thru the whole bible, we have always grumbled.       we just have.          free will and we grumble.      Joshua was on the scene and God used him in a mighty way.        God sometimes uses other people to give us good godly counsel, as He did with Moses' father-in-law, Jethro.

in chapter 19, Moses meets God on Sinai.         this is where God claimed the Israelites as His own possession.          if we know Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we are a part of God's own possession!!         there is nothing else any better than reading this and knowing that all the bible connects in such a way, that those who know the salvation of the Lord Jesus Christ, are also a part of God's own possession, because we have been grafted into this family.

chapter 20 is where we get 10 Commandments.           we see here that God is establishing a set of rules for His people to follow.         He doesn't want His people worshipping the idols that the pagans worship.         we see a lot of things in this particular chapter that sets the course for Gods people, but as per humans, we also see the 10 Commandments dismantled and forgotten about.         that is, until we find ourselves in trouble again, time after time and we cry out to God and He answers our cries and the we forget.       it's a vicious cycle, it's always been a vicious cycle and it will continue until Jesus comes back to take us home.
---------------

we're back in the kitchen again today, well it was actually yesterday.         so you know the drill, let's do another "2 minutes in the kitchen with me".           with the weather happening, my nesting instincts kick in and all I want to do is cook.         hahaha          and then that requires eating too.        anyway, we both love to eat, I love to cook, so it's a win win for me.

I fixed an electric pressure cooker full of pinto beans and they are delicious.          that's what was for lunch.         we really enjoyed them.        and we'll get 3 or 4 more meals apiece from this batch.        this is what I always call our "fast food".        it's cooked and ready to eat, I know what all the ingredients are and there is nothing I can't pronounce.        so that's great!!!          and the beans are too.

this is some of the cornbread swirls I made yesterday in my bread machine.          I baked this pan full this morning.        I've showed how I make these before.        you may be able to find it in my blog posts.         this pan is full of the smaller pieces on the ends and they rose so good that they filled the whole pan up.       down in the right lower had corner is one that's a lot smaller and a lot paler.         I don't know why it didn't get any browner.         but it was from the last batch that I made before yesterday.         it's a little puny scrawny cornbread swirl compared the ones I made yesterday.         and the only difference between yesterdays batch and the batch about 2 weeks ago is the flour.        the puny one is from Kroger brand all purpose unbleached flour and the ones from yesterday was from Aldi brand all purpose unbleached flour.         well, guess what flour I'll be using from now on.         and I noticed the same thing with the brioche buns that I made yesterday too.         when I took the ball of dough from the machine it was huge and soft and really nice.         same with the one I made this morning and froze the buns.        they are some of the best looking rolls and buns I've made in a long time.        and its all because of the Aldi flour.      yay Aldi!!!

after I got the beans done, I cleaned the electric pressure cooker pot up and got it loaded with all the goodies to my famous chicken corn chowder.         this is one of our all time favorite dishes!!!      more than likely, I have a pot of this in the fridge year around.          we eat.      we love.        therefore I keep it in the fridge.         it goes really with the cornbread swirls too.

this is a little bit of a close up of the chowder.           oh wow, I can't wait for supper!!!          guess what we're having?           yeah, that's right, chicken corn chowder and cornbread swirls.        this is comfort food at it's best.        it makes the cold days so much more tolerable.      hahaha

this is so good, we both just love it.           I just can't say enough good stuff about it.        I keep looking for something else that we could love as much, but we haven't come across it yet.        hahaha

--------------------------

well, that's about it today.        as I sit and watch the temp climb a little and finish up this blog post, we'll see what the day brings.       I plan on getting another batch of brioche dough made up and in the freezer.       I may bake some just for fun.        we'll see what comes of it.         I pray that wherever you are today that you are blessed with warmth, peace and grace.      lets continue to pray for those in harms way of fires and snow storms, those still fighting for their lives in the hurricane riddled areas.        lots of people all over the globe are hurting and God is our only source of salvation thru the shed blood of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.        hugs and love, patty

Happy Tuesday!!!

good evening y'all!!!         I guess it's better late than never, huh.          it's been another cloudy, dreary, cold day here in my neck of the woods.          we got out and run 3 or 4 errands this morning and it was good to get those done.

I made a run to Aldi and picked up a few things, one of them being a big pkg of chicken legs.        I didn't do an official count, but I believe there was a dozen.         so after getting everything put away, I got out one my of my electric pressure cookers and in went those legs.      I stood them up in the epc, put a quarter of a cup of water in them and then sprinkled them heavily with Aldi brand poultry seasoning.

I guess this is my advertisement for Aldi.      hahaha        just a heads up on that poultry seasoning, it is without a doubt, the BEST I've ever used.         with any other poultry seasoning I've ever used, it always had something weird, that made it taste weird, in it.        this has nothing weird at all.   just 5 or 6 simple herbs, that's it and it is fantastic!!!         ok, I'm done with the advertisement now.        hahahaha

I cooked those chicken legs for 2 hours.         when the epc went off, I done a quick release and took my legs out.       they had already released about 3 or 4 cups of liquid.        I got all the meat off the bones and the skin off.         then I picked all the bones out of that stuff and put the bones and any cartilage back in the pressure cooker.         before I started it back up, I put more water in, up to the 8 cup mark and then I poured about 2 tablespoons of vinegar in.       the vinegar helps to break down the cartilage and bones and pull the nurtients from the bones into the bone broth.         I put the lid back on and reset it for 2 more hours.        once that was done, I reset it for 2 more hours making a grand total of 6 hours under pressure and the bones could be pinched apart.

while the electric pressure cooker was coming back to heat for the first cooking of the just the bones, I got the meat prepped and in the freezer.        I made 5 bags of meat and vacuum sealed them in a gallon sized vacuum seal bag.          so that will be 5 future meals that we will be looking forward to.

once the bones had run the cycle 2 times for 4 hours, I done a quick release and picked the bones and any scrap meat from the bone broth.      then I put all the broth in a big bowl for it cool off.         I'll pop it in the fridge after while.         in the morning I'll take the bone broth from the fridge and defat it.      when I defat it, this bone broth should be as thick as jello if not thicker because of all the dissolved cartilage from the chicken bones and then from all the other nutrients leached from the bones.

so, if anyone needs to know how simple it is to make chicken bone broth, well, here ya go.          it really is easy to do and so worth while!!!!          had I not done this, the bones would have gotten thrown away and I don't like to throw anything that's useful away.        I may drink some of it with a bit more poultry seasoning and a dash of salt in it for a mid morning break.       that will be delicious and nourishing.       I make a corn chowder of sorts and my bone broth will be wonderful in it.          when I'm cooking great northern beans, I like to use chicken broth.          so there's lots of ways to use it.

I hope if you've never tried making bone broth that you'll give it a try.        you would do the same thing with beef bones, pork bones, turkey bones, venison  bones or whatever bones you may have.        cook them for a long time, at least 6 hours in a pressure cooker.         if you don't have a pressure cooker, then cook them for at least a minimum of 24 hours in a crock pot or slow cooker.        it really takes a long time to cook those bones, but you can shorten the cook time with a pressure cooker.        if I had gotten started early this morning, they would have probably been at least 10 hours in the electric pressure cooker.        but 6 hours is still great.          so give it a try, you'll be happy you did.

all the while I was working on my chicken bone broth, I was dreaming of my garden.        I was dreaming of what I'm gonna start first.         yesterday I found a sight, I think it's "almanac dot com", typed in the normal way, not the way I spelled it out.       I added my zipcode to it and it brings up a printable, savable pdf of all the dates to start your seeds based on frost dates and the changing of the moon and then when you can direct sow.        lots of great information.       so I got that printed out.   and while I was getting our yearly calendar to keep all our important dates and happenings in for the year, I picked up another one just to start a garden calendar.

so what I'm going to do, is just pick out all the produce I'm interested in growing and put the seed start date in my calendar and then when that date rolls around, I know to start my seeds.        then when they grow and the season gets warmer, I'll know when to transplant them.         it also gives a last date to plant for late summer planting of things that are frost tender.       and it gives fall planting for the cool weather crops.        I can see that this pdf and calendar will be a big benefit to me with starting to keep a good calendar and good notes on when and what to do.       if you could benefit from something like that, be sure and check it out.

I guess that's just about all she wrote tonight.         I need to get a load of laundry going before it gets too late.          I hope you all have a blessed night of healing rest and that you're refreshed for a great day tomorrow.          let's keep Christ in all we do and we will succeed.        hugs and love, patty

Snacks, Air Fryer, Electric Pressure Cooker.............

good morning beautiful friends.          I hope you're having a warm morning so far.          it was a chilly 25* again.          with the prospects of warming up to 40*.         yay!!!          that's better than a high of 39*, isn't it?         it seems to be a quiet morning so far.        the only thing on our agenda today is to get in our walk.         then I got to get in the kitchen and get some turkey corn chowder made and some cornbread swirls.       so I'm sure I'll have some good mishaps in the kitchen, I usually do.      hahaha  the rolls/buns I made yesterday are really good.         hubby loved his breakfast sandwich this morning.

none of the fast food joints have anything over on me with their breakfast sandwiches.           mine blows theirs out of the water everyday all day.         and I know what's in all of it.       and it's not deepfried or skillet fried or griddle fried in months old grease!!!!         everything is cleaned regularly and that makes a huge difference to us.        so, forget the fastfood, and make your own!!!

this is a picture of some charms that I made a couple of years ago.      this was a really fun project.       I got the bezel charm pieces at Joann's, I think.        I used a clear drying glue and set in fun little bits and pieces of all kinds of items.       tiny seed beads, itsy bitsy shells, small pieces of real genstones, micro sized sequins and then some extra glittery glitter.         I used most of these on some of my handmade, hand rolled paper beads.       really beautiful.         I hope you give something like this a try.

one little tip, don't put too much glue in the base.     you don't want it squishing out all around the bezel.         also, just go to somewhere like amazon and type in something "jewelry bezel" and if the dime sized bezels are what you're interested in, then look for that size.        I just done a search on amazon and lots popped up.        like I said, I think these came from Joann's, Michaels or Hobby Lobby.          one of these 3 anyway.         these were lightweight, so they weren't very expensive.         I hope some of you give this a try.

*********************************************

are you a hazard in the kitchen?          have you been known to drop a carton of eggs on the floor?  or spill a 5 lb bag of sugar on the counter and floor?           do you have trouble hanging on to that big turkey getting it in the oven?           have you ever spilled a 2 lb or 5 lb bag of dried beans?          have you ever flipped a pancake right out in the floor?            or what about dropping an opened box of your favorite cereal?           ok, where am I going with this?           well, if you have a habit of bing a menace in the kitchen, today is your day!!!!         Happy National Klutz in the Kitchen Day!!!         just stay away from knives and glass and anything that can be spilled.          enjoy your day and maybe get carry-out today, save yourself a mess in the kitchen.         have a happy "klutz free" day!!!  hahahaha

no, today isn't actually national klutz day, it just feels like every day is that for me, so I thought I would share a little bit of fun with you.      hahahaha

***********************************************************

let's do another "2 minutes in the kitchen with me".      I use my air fryer almost daily, I just don't get pictures of everything I fix in it, but I was mindful when I was fixin' lunch for us today.          I made salmon patties.

1 can of drained salmon, 1 egg, 1/4 cup of bread crumbs, 1/4 cup parm cheese, 1/2 small onion diced, dash of onion powder, dash of garlic powder, dash of salt, dash of black pepper, 1 tsp italian seasoning and enough evaporated milk to mix well (because that's what I had).

I lined my air fryer with a parchment round and scooped out a large serving spoon of salmon mixture and made into patties.         I sprayed the tops of each pattie with avocado oil.         I got 5 in my air fryer, they are pretty large, and the last one I popped in the toaster oven just because I wanted to get lunch ready and done.          I just used the pre set for fish and cooked it for about 8 minutes and took the basket out flipped the patties and cooked for about 6 or 8 more minutes, till they reached the browness I was looking for.

I also filled my electric pressure cooker with green beans, diced onions and potatoes and a little dab of my essential oil aka "bacon grease" (hahaha) and put my long legged rack in on top of them and set my cooking pot full of creamed corn on top of the potatoes and beans and cooked it all in one pot while the air fryer was going.          It was a great lunch with enough left overs for a couple more meals.       Also had hard boiled eggs that I fixed earlier in the epc.       Anyway, just wanted to share the pics.       The salmon patties are sooooooo good!!!        Everything else is too.

I have to say, that for years I have baked my salmon patties in the oven instead of skillet fry them.  Since I've had an af, this is my preferred method.        I did bake one in the toaster oven and it took 2 times longer to bake in the oven than it did to cook in the af.

green beans and potatoes, it doesn't get much better than this and when I can cook corn in the same pot, that's a plus every day of the world for me!!
don't these salmon patties look good, well, they are.       just like momma makes!!!

this was a great meal and we have it quite often.         I'm pretty sure I've shared this before, but that's ok, it deserves to be shared again.        hahahaha        so keep a watch out, it just may pop up again.     hahaha         well, it won't if I remember I've shared it before.        but I'm not counting on remembering anything these days.        hahaha

******************************************************

I love this Psalm.         I know most everyone does.           A lot of people know this by heart, being one of the first scriptures committed to memory.

***23 The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.         2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.             3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.            4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.             5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.             6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.***

There's a big difference between knowing the Psalm and knowing the Shepherd.         To know the Psalm, you have committed the Psalm to your memory.         To know the Shepherd, you have committed your life to Him.

I hope and pray that you know the Shepherd as well as you know the Psalm.            if not, then now is the time to learn all about the Shepherd.

***********************************************

well, that's a wrap for today.        I need to get in the kitchen and get my "klutz" going.       hahahaha     I hope you seen something here that made you smile, or think, or gave you some ideas.        I hope to see you back here real soon.          think about the Psalm and figure out if you know the Shepherd as well as you know the Psalm.        there is a difference and we need to know.

I hope you have a wonderful day.        blessings of love, peace and joy be yours.         hugs, patty

Happy Day after Christmas

good morning friends.           I hope that you have survived the hubbub of Christmas.           or maybe you was like us and didn't have a hubbub to survive.          we stayed home and enjoyed the day.          no hustle and bustle at all.          a most pleasent day and we remembered what the day is supposed to be all about.

it's  gloomy day here and we need to get out and walk in a little bit.           maybe that'll get me woke up.           I need get a pot of beans on and get some bread made.           2 kinds of bread, so it will be a long day for me, if I get it all done.          we'll see what happens.

**************************************************

let's go to the kitchen for a quick "2 minutes in the kitchen with me".         well, we love dried beans.  we eat a lot of dried beans.         we both, was raised on them and we still LOVE them.        nothing better than good old comfort food and that's what dried beans are for us.

so I had 2 lb bag of great northern beans.       I always, always, always, sort and wash my beans.        my sweet Momma taught me well and she still cooks beans and guess what, I know her routine well.      so I started sorting and didn't think I would find anything other than a few discolored beans.        that's usual and also a few floaters.          I was just about done sorting and all of the sudden, in a hand full of beans was this big old honkin piece dirt with sticks and twigs in it.          I know most people sort thru their beans and wash them.             but if you happen to be one of the few that doesn't, then this may be of some influence to start sorting and washing them.           I always wash them at least 3 times in my bowl that I sort them in.            the first time the water is always gunky.  the second time, less gunky and the third time clear water, so that's my story for today.             I've shared similar to this before, only because I keep finding strange and unusual things.  and in all fairness, they do have on all bags to sort and wash before using.           it's there for a reason.        and these beans will be sooooo good!!!!      they are in my electric pressure cooker, yay!!!

so, if you're not in the habit of sorting thru and washing your beans, this may give your the incentive to do so.            if you've ever gotten a mouth full of grit while eating beans, this is why.          they weren't cleaned well.          every bean goes into my hand before it's dumped in to my bowl to be washed.        that way, if there's a rock or a wad of dirt masquerading as a bean, I'll find it.

I've seen people making videos for youtube just cut open a bag of beans and dump them in!!!!!           I want to scream when I see that.          what in the world are you thinking!!!!!!            sort and wash those beans!!!!!!!
***********************************************

Who wants a good read today?            If you do, grab your Bible and turn to 1 Peter 2 and read the whole chapter.          It tells us how we are to live in this world, this is not our permanent home.       We are sojourners just passing thru this land.         If you long for something different, just know, that's heaven calling.  "This world is not my home" keeps rushing thru my mind and below is a portion of that song.

""This world is not my home, I'm just a passing through

My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue

The angels beckon me from heaven's open door

And I can't feel at home in this world anymore

Oh lord you know I have no friend like you

If heaven's not my home then lord what will I do

The angels beckon me from heaven's open door

And I can't feel at home in this world anymore.""

There is also another beautiful hymn that keeps coming up too, "This is my Fathers world".  This is a portion of that song:

""This is my Father's world, and to my listening ears

All nature sings, and round me rings the music of the spheres.

This is my Father's world,

I rest me in the thought

Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas,

His hand the wonders wrought.""

I love the nature side of my Fathers world as described in this sweet hymn of faith, but not so much the side of humanity that we are seeing today.         So, while I think of rocks and trees and skies and seas, I also hear the angels beckon me from heaven's open door and I don't feel at home here anymore.

I can't possibly be the only person with a heart that is longing for heaven, but I also long to see God's people do right by one another.

Torn between two worlds.

Anyway, this is where my heart was this morning.

*********************************************************

warning: this is long!!!         but if you dehydrate produce, it may be a good read for you.         so I gave you a fair warning.           so no complaining it's long.           hahaha

let's do a "2 (10 or 20) minutes in the kitchen with me" segment this morning and talk about some of the things we've talked about in the past.  I hope it's helpful to someone.  let's just sit and drink our coffee and have at it.

this is just what has been on my mind as of late, just because I'm getting ready to start dehydrating produce.         what I grow and what I find on sale or at farmers market or road side stands.

this was some of the items I dehydrated last year.          start with a little and it turns into a lot by the end of the season.         you can grow your own produce or you can find it on sale at the stores, farmers markets, road side stands.          which ever way you get produce, consider dehyrating as a great means of preservation.

it's very easy, extremely safe, and fun to use later on.           all of it works well in soups and stews, as snacks.           one thing to remember is that dehydrating does cause the structure of the produce itself to change.

if you don't have a dehydrator, I would recommend you getting one with a temp and time setting.        if you get one of the less expensive ones that doesn't have a temp and time setting, it will dehydrate at a temp of no less than 145* and they can be as high as 165*.           these are not good for produce at all although they say they are.           on the other hand, you don't need one of the those that costs 3 to 5 hundred dollars either.            my preferred machine is less than a hundred dollars with removable stackable trays with the heat system on the bottom that forces the hot air up thru the trays with the hot air being expelled out the the lid of the dehydrator.

a lot of people go for the ones that are cabinet style and very expensive.             the reason I've never been interested in those is because you can't dehydrate a lot of different things in them at the same time.             for instance, I'll have a tray of onions, a tray of garlic, a tray of tomatoes, a tray of zucchini, a tray of pineapple and a tray of apples.              the average person would say "you can't do that".              you can't do it in a cabinet style, but in a stackable style, YES, you can do it.

this is how: start with apples on the bottom, next pineapples, next zucchini, next tomatoes, next onions and finally garlic.            the heat coming from the bottom will be forced up thru the trays.       the apples, pineapples, zucchini and tomatoes don't have any strong aromas.          the garlic and onion does.             tray placement is the key for for your produce not smelling like onions and garlic.          if you put this mix of produce in a cabinet style dehydrator, everything will smell and taste like onions and garlic.               since it's just the 2 of us, this is how I like to use my dehydrator to its greatest capabilities.                if I dehydrated a lot more than I do, I would probably have 2 dehydrators.       one for fruits and one for veggies.      and since I first wrote this, I do have 2 dehydrators now.          my newest one is a Septree brand from amazon.          it's  the smallest cabinet style they make with 4 trays and it's a fantastic little dehydrator.

so dehydrated sliced tomatos will not rehydrate to use as a slice of tomato you would put on a sandwich, but it will be good in soups, stews or casseroles.          also, even though there aren't any in these pics, I do love to dehydrate sliced tomatoes.            they are great as a snack.  you can sprinkle a little of previously dehydrated onion and garlic that has been powdered, and little dehydrated parsley on them and dehydrate them and you have a very special snack.

the main thing to remember is to get everything crispy dry.            any moisture left in the produce will set the stage for mold.  and goodness, we don't want to lose any of our hard work because we failed to get something completely crispy dry.

just a reminder too, that just because an instruction manual says to dehydrate something at 135*, it doesn't mean they are right.             thru  years of trying to figure out why I wasn't getting the desired results, I started changing, actually lowering my temps and my produce started looking much better.  the desired color in the finished product comes with lower temps.              to be quite honest, I never go above 115* anymore, and for some items like onions, I set my dehydrator on 110* because of all the natural sugars in onions.

some things like potatoes require a lot of rinsing to get as much of the natural starch off.           if you don't rinse and then blanche, and lower your dehydrator setting to 115*, you'll end up with a bunch brown/black dried potatoes.             I usually rinse my potatoes 3 times before they hit the blanche pot and then once removed from the boiling water, they're put in an ice water bath to stop further cooking and cool completely.              they come out perfect every time.

I've found also, that a lot of produce doesn't have to be blanched.            for instance, if you blanche onions, guess what, you lose most of the good onion flavor in that blanch water.       and the same it is, with most every other types of produce.             some of your hard root veggies like potatoes, sweet potatoes, beets....things like that will benefit from blanching.             those are just about it that I even consider blanching.

something else to remember, if it goes in the dehydrator raw, it comes off the dehydrator raw.          the dehydrator does not cook the produce, it's only removes the moisture.            and even for the items that I mentioned that I do blanche, those items will need to be cooked.

I can't remember if I've already said it or not, but I never go above 115* with my produce, fruits or veggies.               a lot of people will dip their produce in lime juice or lemon juice.            to be quite honest with you, it's pretty repulsive to have lime and lemon on EVERYTHING!!!           I do NOT recommend that.              what I do recommend is for everyone to learn to use their dehydrators correctly and then you can leave the lemon and lime juice alone and your produce will taste like it's supposed to taste.              keeping your temps low, 110* to 115* (and 90* to 95* for herbs), is the  to key to avoiding the citric juice bath for all you produce.           but, if you like everything to have a that taste, then go for it.

a lot of dehydrated produce is great for snacks.             just remember to drink some water or something as you enjoy them.              and for the fruits, rememeber that in the dried form, it's really easy to over eat.             I love to make dehydrated watermelon, but it's really easy to overdo it      .  once you have a lot of different produce dehydrated, you can even consider grinding it to make your own "cup-a-soup", or seasoning to go in or on your dishes.            think about powdered onion, garlic, bell peppers, celery....things like that.                you can also experiment.             I'm a big encourager of experimenting with what you have and see how many different ways you can use your stash.         if you have a dehydrator, when you start dehydrating, learn to portion a new item out in what would be a serving size or in the size of a whole piece of produce you would use.

if you want to know how much dried diced onion is equivalent to a whole onion, then dice one whole average sized onion and place it on a dehydrator tray separated from the others.         when the onions are completely cracker crisp dry, weigh the one diced onion by itself.                I prefer to weigh in grams.           write that weight on your jar somewhere and you'll know how much to use for 1 average sized onion.           and if you can keep up with how many onions you have done, when you get your storage jar filled, you'll be able to know how many onions you have in that jar.         I think I got about 40 average sized onions in my gallon jug last year.  hahaha

one thing I do when I'm using my dehydrated produce, when I get to end of my jars, I start dumping everything all together.           then I'll take out my dedicated to produce, coffee grinder, and I'll make a blend of everything.           let me tell you, it is delicious!!!!            I'll put some in soups and stews and casseroles.          I can even make "cup a soup" with it.

and it feels good to start getting rid of jars with just kibbles and bits in it.

well, I think this is about it for now.          I don't know if anyone will read the whole thing, but if you do and have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.          I'm sure I'll have more to add at some point in time, so maybe be on the look out.            be blessed and dehydrate!!

top pic: jar 1 has mixed veggies from where I cleaned out some of my boxes that I keep prepped veg in.         jar 2 has 3 sliced yellow squash.             jar 3 has green onion blades from my freebie roots that I planted from a batch of green onions.          trying to fill that jar.           jar 4 has 2 zucchini.

bottom pic: jar 1 has pea hulls.          when I pick peas, I shell and dehydrate the hulls.         once dehydrated, I'll grind the pea hulls and add it to green powder.        jar 2 has cherry tomatoes.        before I get more at the store, I'll dehydrate what I already have, so nothing goes to waste.         good snacking.             jar 3 is leek leaves from the roots of some leeks I purchased and planted the roots.  trying to get that little jar filled too.

sticking to my motto "something is better than nothing".           do a little at a time and it all adds up.

****************************************************

well, as I'm still dreaming of my spring garden, I guess I'll wrap this blog post up.          I hope you seen something here today that is an encouragement to you, or that you have learned something.          maybe you just came away with a couple of new songs to sing to the Lord.        what ever your takeaway is from this blogpost, I hope you'll make plans to join me right back here really soon.

until then, blessings of love, joy and peace be yours today.         hugs, patty

What You Can't See...........

good morning y'all!!!!          I 've had a hard time with our internet services as of late and having a hard time getting a post up.       so I do apologize for that.        I hope your day is going great and that you're able to see Jesus in everything you do and everything you do for others.       I have to say, like I've been saying for a while now, I'm looking forward to spring and growing things!!!!        hahaha          we made a quick trip to see my Momma yesterday and all the wheat coming up is so beautifully green and I told my husband that that green wheat gives me hope!!!!!        I loved seeing it.        I hope that if all you can see is mostly brown, that you get to see green somewhere, maybe in a wheat field like we got to see.

****************************************

Have you ever thought about this?         well, I have and this is the result.

You can watch a person.      You can see them laugh.       You can see them post happy pictures on social media, and be polite, and carry on casual conversations.

You can look at a person.      You can see their handbag.      You can see their clothes, and their hair, and their shoes.

But you know "what you can’t see"?

You can’t see the fight they just had with their spouse.    You can’t see their tears from the night before.

You can’t see the helpless feeling they’re experiencing of trying to help their teenager who keeps going in the wrong direction.        You can’t see the time, and energy, and love they’ve dedicated to raising good children.        You can’t see how hard they work without even an ounce of appreciation.

You can’t see the demotion they just received, or the rejection they’re facing.        You can’t see the two jobs they’re working just to make ends meet.

You can’t see the loved one they just lost.       You can’t see the parent who was just diagnosed with cancer.        You can’t see their battle with infertility, or the miscarriage they recently had.

You can’t see their anxiety.       You can’t see the depression they’ve been battling for who knows how long.

You can’t see their loneliness.

You can’t see their brokenness.

You can’t see their breakdowns.

You can’t see their heartache.

You can’t see the silent weight they constantly carry on their shoulders.

You can’t see their fear, or the lies they tell themself.        You can’t see their inner turmoil, or the way they lay in bed every single night and wonder why they aren’t enough, and if they’ll ever just learn to like who they are.

You can’t see how hard they’re working to get through this day, or this week, or this season.

You can’t see all the things they never share.       You can’t see all the things they coverup.       You can’t see all the things they are desperate to keep hidden.

We think we know people.        We look at people, and think we see them, but the truth is: most of the time, we only see traces of the truth.         We only see a fraction of the full story.

Don’t assume anything except that they are loved by the same God who loves you, and what they need most right now is grace.

We can't see a lot, but God sees it all!!!        God sees the whole picture.         He sees it all!!!

********************************************

this was some pictures from back early in the year.        I'm a on a kick sharing what made me happy then, because it was a time of new life and good stuff growing.     and I'm looking forward to spring!!!

when it's dreary and the middle of winter, scenes like this will help us appreciate the sunshiny days coming up a little more.           we was getting ready to walk this morning and when we went out on the deck, the strawberries were covered with dew droplets around the edge.         it's a most beautiful sight.  a few years ago I got a squash leaf covered in dew droplets around the edge and it was beautiful.        we went for our walk and got back and they weren't as beautiful as they was just and hour before.      but I took a few pics anyway.        and I cropped one of them so you can see it better.        I also took a few pics of onion greens that I'm growing from scrap.          I cut the root ends off my green onions and stuck them in empty pockets in my Greenstalk and you can see new growth.         I do this every year and use all the greens in our salads and if it's too much for the salads, I'll put them on the dehydrator and then I can use them in anything that I put onions or greens in.           I'll just cut them back and then they'll grow out again.            right now I have 11 roots and all of them are growing and are a great way to get free onions from scraps.

these green onions and 5 more just like it helped to fill my gallon jug this year with onion greens.          I would let them grow till they were about  10 or 11 inches and then I'd trim them back and they would grow right out again.          believe it or not, there's still about 6 of them in my greenstalk and they are still growing.         I'll leave them till spring and see what they do.         I do enjoy seeing that little bit of greenery right now.

***************************************************

I'm on a roll, no a bread stick, this week.          hahaha          let's do a "2 minutes in the kitchen with me".          well, we wanted some spaghetti.           I don't particularly like cooking spaghetti on the stove top, I usually boil it over (hahaha) and then spend 3 weeks cleaning my stove top, getting all the burned bits off.          not fun.         and I do particularly love using my electric pressure cooker.       soooooo I've had an electric pressure cooker (epc) for 13 or 14 years and early on, I used to do this, but had forgotten about it.          so I put my thinking hat on and finally remembered what I used to do.       there is no recipe that I follow, it's just this and that and then some more.

but here's what I done this morning:

I opened on can of chicken stock and dumped that in.

I had some seafood stock in the fridge and I dumped in about a cup of that.

I took probably enough spaghetti that I could reach around it with my thumb and index finger, may have been a tad more.         I broke that into pieces and dropped that into my epc.

I had some salsa in the fridge that needed to be used.        I dumped that in and washed the jar out with a little water and poured that in.

I had a jar of quart jar spaghetti sauce and I used about half of that.

I used my rubber spatula and gave it all a good and gentle stir.

I had a bag of frozen meatballs and I put those on top in an even layer.

I put in a handful and a half of diced onions.

this will be different the next time I fix spaghetti because I might throw more veggies in it or who knows what.            but I'll say that for this batch I probably had a lt least 3 to 4 cups of liquid including the salsa and spaghetti sauce.

I set my epc on high for an hour.         (I can't set this particular epc for 5 mins on high, it doesn't reach high until you have an hour of time programmed in it and I use this particular epc when I'm cooking stuff that has the potential to be stinky.)       when it finally came to heat and started counting down, I set my oven time for 5 minutes.           when the oven timer went off, I cancelled the cooking process and let it natural release for another 5 minutes.            when that 5 minutes was up, I finished with a quick release.             I used a spatula and stirred it all real gently and it looked so good.           at this point, it looked like there was still a lot of liquid.    I put the lid back on and let it set.        when it was lunch time, I took the lid off and it was pure PERFECTION!!!!

it was delicious!!!!            so if you like spaghetti, quick and with minimal mess (hahaha)  or if you just like to use your epc, like I do, then this is for you.          this was so good and there will be enough for maybe 3 more meals apiece.        hubby gave it 2 thumbs up, I did too.         with a salad, a breadstick, a sprinkle of parm and a little dab of this goodness, it makes a fantastic meal.       bettter than Olive Garden any day.     hahaha

*************************************************

well, I have lunch going in the air fryer and it will be calling my name in a few minutes.         my name is "beep beep beep".        hahahaha          I'm always running when something goes "beep beep beep", so it must be my name.         hahahaha        I know that some of y'all have the same name.        that's ok, when I hear it, I know we are getting ready to chow down on something good.          this meals goodness will be coconut shrimp, french fries and hushpuppies all done in the air fryer.      one of our favorite meals.          I hope you have a favorite meal that quick and easy too.

blessings on your day.         may you day be filled love, joy and peace.        hugs, patty

Divine Appointments, Dehydrating and more

good morning to you all from my sunny neck of the woods.          it's a quite beautiful day here today.     I got up and out early and done some grocery shopping and got that put away.         then I fixed our breakfast and now we're getting ready for our walk.        after that, we've got a couple of errands to run and then we're back for what ever we need to do.         I got to get some breakfast made and in the freezer.        that's one of the items on my list today.      we'll see if I get it done.         what's on your list today??      let's make it a great day y'all!!

********************************

Do you believe in "divine appointments" or coincidences?         I guess the way you think about that question will determine your answer.            I realized many years ago, for myself, there are no coincidences.         The more I learned about God the Father, God in the form of Holy Spirit, and God the Son, there is truly only divine appointments.           We never know where or when, but if we are open to the obedience of the calling that God has placed over our lives, there will be divine appointments.           Of this, I'm sure.

Only God will know what your divine appointments will look like for you.         We just need to be ready in season and out of season, in other words, at all times.          The enemy tries to steal our attention away form God.          He does a pretty good job too.           You can be going down the road praising God and look up and see the price of gas, there goes the praise and worship fest.       Right?  Sadly, you know exactly what I'm talking about.          Every day, on the part of this planet that God has placed us, we have the choice to be a stepping stone or a stumbling block.          It is our choice.

About the enemy stealing our attention from God, he also uses the issues going on in this country right now.          We all know that is true.         Pray earnestly for all these divisive problems in our country!   Pray for our leaders in every level of our government, from the local city governments to the highest in the land, which is in Washington DC.         Pray expecting God to do something!!!        Pray continually.

But, about the divine appointments, do not let issues taking place across this land harden our hearts so much that we lose compassion for those that are in desperate situations.        People we know are hurting.          We may even be hurting ourselves.         But for me, my heart was shut off to that.     Until this morning.         God showed me something through someone I don't even know.       Thru a family in a desperate situation clear across this country.           God, through the Holy Spirit, encouraged me to reach out to this family through the only way that I could, prayer.         I have been praying for this family as the Lord leads.              Even the enemy said my attempt was nothing to them.           But, this morning, I found out that my feeble attempt has meant the world to them!

And yes that humbled me!!!             While I was very humbled to find out just how much it has meant to them, I was actually blown away, when the Holy Spirit revealed to me that it was actually for MY benefit!!!           To break away the hardness that had settled in and around my heart.         Do you know that you too, may have some hardness around you heart, in the same way I did?         If you do, allow yourself to be obedient to the call of God over your life and that hardness will be chipped away, one heartfelt and earnest prayer at a time.           Obedience to God helps others, but it also helps us.       Try it.         You won't be disappointed.

***********************************

let's do a "2 minutes in the kitchen with me".         so this has been about a year in the making and I have a lot more to do.         my mantra--I will get it done, I will get it done........hahaha

in the first picture, left to right, first jar is leafy greens flakes, any and all kinds.        second jar is mushroom powder, this is 6 of those little containers of baby bellas; middle jar is hot peppers of all kinds powdered, jalapenos, fresnos, serranos, poblanos, green cayenne and another one or 2 that I can't remember(it's potent, I had to wear a mask while jarring it up!!!).          the last 2 large jars on the right is my ultimate veggie powder. it has: parsley, asparagus, parsnips, green onion, red onion, yellow onion, zucchini, red bell peppers, green bell peppers, turnips, cilantro, rutabaga, jerusalem artichoke, celery, fennel, carrots, and it seems like there was another thing or 2 that I forgot.      hahaha          I will use that in all different kinds of casseroles and soups and stews and what ever needs a bump of nutrition.      also, I will have my own "cup a soup" blend.         I'm tickled to try that. but, here's the really great part.

I started with over 25 jars of varying sizes, from pints to quarts and everything in between and condensed it down the 5 jars you see!!!       such a great feeling to have that all done.        running my dehydrators day after day, week after week and month after month has paid off.         I am going to get my citrus fruit done this way too.          I do have several jars of fruits that I will leave like they are for baking and snacking.           anyway, this is what I done today and I'm pleased as punch to share pictures of it.

I am still using on some of these.          and if you keep them in airtight jars with metal lids that have the rubber gasket on it, they will keep for a long long time!!!!          the 2 largest canning jars was made from what I call "kibbles and bits", just scraps of vegetables that was left in the bottom of jars after I had used most of whatever it was.          I would just dump the last 2 or 3 tablespoons of dehydrated goods in a larger jar and when it got full, I would blend it.         I've used and am still using those jars in soups and meat dishes, all kinds of stuff.         scrambled eggs and even in homemade bread.       it's a very good way to save money too.        anything that's tossed in the garbage can is money thrown away.  I hope to get more good stuff dehydrated this year.

**********************************

This is quite lengthy and something that I wrote back in June of 2018.        I forget what was behind me writing it, but I never shared it publicly.          I will share it now, but understand, this is my "non-debatable" opinion.         And since the time I originally wrote it, I stand behind this even more so.

Musings of what some would call an old "Crazy Lady"

And you know what, I'll take that.       I'll take that happily.         I wear that hat with pride.        Because the way I see, this is an "upside down crazy world" I live in these days.

I had to do a google search.       Yes I did.        Wanna know what I googled?        Snowflake.      That's it.         I googled "snowflake".         Who but a crazy lady has to google such a word?

When I grew up, everyone knew what a snowflake was and we couldn't help but be thrilled at the thought of seeing the first snowflakes fall.          Oohhh the possibilities that was in a curious childs mind at the fun we might get to have if enough of them fell.           Building snowmen, making snowballs, making snow angels, building an igloo, jumping and romping in the snow, Momma making the wonderful concoction called snow cream..........the possibilities were endless to a curious childs mind.

We knew that each snowflake was totally different too.          If you could actually view several under a microscope, you would see that no two were exactly alike.       That was part of the beauty of snowflakes.          Another part of the beauty was the time and season in which snowflakes appeared.   They was always something that appeared in the winter and early spring.          The delicate nature of a snowflake assured us they wouldn't be around long, so if you was to enjoy them, you had to enjoy them in the moment.         The delicate nature of a snowflake couldn't take the heat of the changing seasons.   When the earth does it's thing, the very nature we live in changes, varying the temperatures by degrees that are enough to ward off ice and snow until the appropriate time for the ice and snow to appear again in the form of beautiful and delicate snowflakes.

The one thing that we learned as kids, was to enjoy them while they lasted.        The very nature of a delicate snowflake insures a short lifespan.         Why is that?        Well, as I said earlier, they are delicate in nature and heat from the changing seasons causes them to melt into nothingness.       Oh, I must say that as a kid and teenager, oh heck who am I kidding, even as an old crazy lady, I did and still do love to look out and see snowflakes falling into a snow white blanket of absolute beauty.        There is no doubt in my mind that God knew what He was doing when He created snowflakes.         I think He loves the beauty of snowflakes as much as I do, simply because it brings great joy, for a little while anyway.        But if it hangs around for too long, it becomes a source of worry and frustration.      But even with the worry and frustration I always know that at some point in time, it will melt and disappear.        Sometimes, leaving another blanket of ugliness behind.          But, even that is the cycle of the seasons.

So it is with snow and snowflakes.        But there is also a curious little oddity about snowflakes.  Wanna know what that is?       Well, a snowflake is formed around a single speck of dust.       Yes, that's so.        Curious huh?          Well, when all those snowflakes finally melt, we're left with just the dust that the snowflake was formed around.          Wanna know what else was created from dust?         This crazy lady that wrote about snowflakes and everyone that will read my musings about snowflakes and all the billions of people who will have no idea I wrote anything about snowflakes.        Snowflakes and people have a lot in common.         From dust they were born and to dust they will return.        Because we are as fragile as snowflakes in the way that God made us.

We are here for a season, or a life span, however long that may be.        Snowflakes come and go.       We are here for a reason.          I guess snowflakes have a reason too.        Because when a snowflake goes thru all the changes it goes thru in becoming  a snowflake when it melts, it actually does put a few different nutrients into the soil.          So, again God knew what He was doing when He created snowflakes and making them exactly as He did.         Everything that God does is meaningful and purposeful.          From giving a snowflake a meaningful and purposeful reason, to giving us, as human beings, a meaningful and purposeful existence.          God never intended His most prized creation to act like snowflakes.          Yes, He created us with a destructible body.        But He also created us with a spirit and soul that will last for an eternity.

This definition was taken directly from wikipedia:  Generation Snowflake, or Snowflake Generation, is a neologistic term used to characterize the young adults of the 2010s as being more prone to taking offence and less resilient than previous generations, or as being too emotionally vulnerable to cope with views that challenge their own.      The term is considered derogatory.       It is one of several informal examples of usage of the word snowflake to refer to people.

I don't know about you, but I don't want to be known as a snowflake.        Fortunately, because of my age, I won't or can't be called that.      Call me a crazy old lady and I'll gladly and happily accept that.  Because as I said earlier, this crazy old lady lives in a crazy upside down world.        There's a lot of things I don't like.        There's many things that I can't change.        There's a lot more changes that this old world will see if Christ tarries.       If I live much longer, I will see a lot of those changes myself.   I'm sure I will not like them.         But as long as it's a free country I live in, I will continue to muse about it from time to time.         These are just my thoughts and opinions and since they are mine, they are not open for discussion.

Read it or not, it doesn't matter to me.          You can call me what you want to call me, but you can't call me a snowflake.          What blows my mind is that recently, I actually read someone refer to themselves, proudly, as a snowflake.         Go figure.          I've seen too much change and experienced too much heat in that change and I still have breath in me.       As long as I do, I will try to use it for good.         When the last breath escapes this old lady then I will return to dust, just like the fleeting snowflake.          I just pray that I have stood for the right things.        I pray that I have made a difference in the part of the world in which I live.         When I'm gone, the desire to inspire will be passed on to others.       I pray they will have developed the skin to withstand the heat.

And yes, I have to say that I have taken offense over a lot that has been said and done over the last few years.          I have taken offense at a lot and for the most part, just kept silent about it.       Anyone can call my generation a generation of crazy people, so be it.         But this generation of crazy, the people that I know and have known my whole life, have worked hard, supported their country by fighting for it and paying their FAIR share of taxes, respected and saluted the flag and respected those who have fought for this country and recognized that God is the founding Father of this country.          This is about to be "done and done" unless people decide that this country is worth taking back from those that are hellbent on destroying it.        The decision is ours.         We are either crazy enough to see something worth fighting for or we are snowflakes taking offense and not able to withstand the challenge.       The choice is ours.        Yes, this is the musing of a crazy lady.         And I proudly call myself that.        But, just how crazy am I, really?

Middle of the front page of the local newspaper, in big red letters, was the word DENIED, written in big red letters.         The gist of the story was that a man with stage 4 colorectal cancer was denied by a state contracted doctor, to determine eligibility of disability.        That should have been a NO-brainer, but although he was a doctor, he was a  greedy SOB (not shortness of breath either).       He was reviewing cases every 12 minutes and raking in millions of dollars.

Directly beneath that headline and picture was another headline that read "Death penalty in US near historic low".        Now, I'm not a heartless witch as some might think.        I didn't even read the rest of that article.        The headline said all I really needed to see.

My opinion, that dr needs to be in the electric chair before sundown!!        Heartless, cruel, mean spirited.......not as heartless, cruel and mean spirited as the dr who denied a disabled man with a death sentence already hanging over his head the right for disability which he had earned the hard way, by working.

Praise God another dr did take his case and went thru the process and got him the disability he needs and will be going back and covering all expenses, past and present and future!!!!

There are a LOT of problems in this country, on every level and people are getting meaner and greedier every day, because they are NOT held accountable for their deeds and actions!!!         That needs to change!!         "If there's nothing in it for me, then why should I care" is the attitude.        Well, the way I see it, someday you may be the one who needs help, and there may not be any decent people left to help you.

Most days it just doesn't pay to read the paper or watch the news!!!

*************************************

let's do a quick "2 minutes in the kitchen with me", ok.         we like to take dill pickle spears and wrap them with turkey bacon and air fry them.         they are a wonderfully delicious jaw puckering piece of goodness with a piece of turkey bacon wrapped around it.          cook it on 400* till the bacon is good and crisp.         it actually takes longer for turkey bacon than it does for pork bacon.        I've also done asparagus spears too.         so with this in mind, think about green beans.        I bought a bag of whole fresh greenbeans and washed them.          next I put them in my steamer basket in my electric pressure cooker for about 5 minutes.             when that went off, I released the steam and took the beans out and let them cool.          I had a pkg of turkey bacon that I thawed in the fridge and I sliced each strip of bacon in half length ways making 16 long skinny strips of bacon.         I wrapped 16 greenbeans, each with a skinny strip of turkey bacon and I made sure that the wrapped ends was on the bottom when I put them in the air fryer on 400* on the "bacon" setting.          when it stopped, I ran it again on the "bacon" setting, keeping an eye on the color of the turkey bacon.          when they were the color I was looking for, they were ready to be eaten.         and they were.       hahaha        we really enjoyed them.       easy, 2 ingredient meal.           I did sprinkle a little bit of greek seasoning on them, but that was all I done to them.  they really were delicious.         I will be doing these a lot in the future.       sorry I don't have a picture, I forgot about getting a picture, but I will the next time I fix them.

**********************************************

I thought I would show y'all some of what else I have gotten dehydrated this week and last week.       you know what, this keeps me busy and gives me something worthwhile to focus on and Lord knows I need that.          maybe we all do, so I guess that's why I'm sharing this silly stuff.         plus it will be really yummy when we start using it.          and I must tell you that I do enjoy seeing these pictures myself.         the first picture has baby bell peppers in it.        all different colors.       some of them are mine that I grew and some of them are store bought and when I dehydrating the ones I grew, I threw in some of the store bought ones to fill a tray.          next to the baby bells are cherry tomatoes, those are like candy.         sshhhhh, don't tell anybody.         hahaha           you can never stop learning, even little things.         and with these tomatoes, I learned a "little thing".        all these years when dehydrating cherry tomatoes, I would slice them from stem end to bloom end and believe it or not, they are harder to dehydrate that way.           for some strange reason I picked up one and just sliced it the other way, and all the seeds was exposed so the moisture can easily be dehydrated from them.         slicing them from stem to blossom end, most of the time, the seeds aren't exposed because of the membrane holding the pockets of seeds isn't getting cut to expose the seeds.          the next time you slice a cherry tomato, slice 2, one each way I described and you'll see what I'm talking about.        why haven't I done this sooner????           I will do it this way from now on, for sure.        the next jar is my shishito peppers.   I do love these peppers and wanted to preserve them.            I didn't want to freeze them and I sure didn't want to pickle them.               I wanted to maintain the delicious flavor of the pepper itself, and dehydrating them does it.         I can just take a half of a pepper and crumble it on something and wow, it's just like the fresh pepper.          so good.          in the second pic is my jar of carrots.       believe it or not, that is 9 cans of carrots.             3 more cans on the dehydrator and the jar will be about half full.    these will be great soup additions, plus they will powder up nicely too to make a yummy hot cup of carrot soup and also nice thickener.               the next little jar has my chinese 5 color peppers.        they are very HOT, but really good.           and like the shishitos, I wanted to preserve them without pickling, and these are good too.           just pinch up a piece on a sandwich and there is a big punch of heat, with plenty to spare.         hahaha           I hope to get that little jar filled up, but even as small as the jar is, that will be a tall order, we'll see.            the next jar is the potatoes that I just got jarred up.         the last jar is the last of my lemon and cue ball squash.            it's sad to see them go, but the squash bugs got to them, so they are history.

and I'm happy to report that all of those jars was full by the time my garden season was over.     yay!!!

I hope you seen something here today that inspires you to try something different.         I hope you know that you can do anything you set your mind to.          even keeping a well stocked pantry with dehydrated goods.          it's fun and because I dehydrate, I hardly ever have anything to go bad.        I'll dehydrate it long before that happens.          even if I don't a specific purpose in mind when I dehydrate, I can always use any and all veggies in soups and stews and in making powders.            there's always something that can be done.

I hope you have a blessed day today.         remember the season of celebration and why we celebrate.     we have a Savior!!!!!       is there any greater reason than that to celebrate.         this needs to be our daily celebration for the rest of our lives.         thank You Jesus!!!!!!         hugs and love to all, patty
