A flashback Thanksgiving

Good evening, loved ones of Christ. Today is Monday of Thanksgiving week, 2021. I'll ask this: Where has this year gone? How could something that has passed by so quickly, be so painful? I know that as painful as it has been, it could have been worse. God is good all the time!! All the time God is good!! I stand on that and I hope you do too. As I was browsing facebook this morning, a memory came up and I cried like a baby. I think it's God's way of showing me that in every day, in every way, in every circumstance, there is MUCH to be thankful for. I'm so thankful for the memories of my family and friends and loved ones. It's during this season of the year that I think the pain is always the worst. I think about my Grandparents on both sides of my family. I loved them dearly. I think about all my Aunts and Uncles. I loved them dearly. I'm very blessed to still have my Momma. She is the only one of her generation that is still with us. So she is a rare commodity to my family. We all love her. As I think about all that, I can just imagine that she thinks about even more than I do.

The memory that came up on facebook was about the Thanksgiving of 2018. It was a very pleasant and beautiful day that ended with a nice drive home. As I think about it, I remember my mind racing with all that I had "seen" in a flash back and I couldn't wait to get home and get it all written down. I can't remember if I shared it on my blog back then or not, but it makes no difference, I'm sharing it again. hahaha It takes on a whole different sadness this year than it did originally. I'm sure eventually, it will have even more sadness attached to it as more of my family is taken by death into the next life. I hope if you read this, that it will encourage you to find something to be thankful and grateful about. Sometimes, it's hard for me. Just like with my last blog post, I was angry and hurt and will be that way for quite some time. But even thru it all, there is much to be thankful for. So, if you dare to read it, here it is:

Thanksgiving Day November 2018

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!! I hope and pray that where ever y'all are that you have had a blessed day thus far and that the rest of it is filled with blessings also.       I have an awful lot to be thankful for and one of my biggest blessings is my husband.      He's a great guy, a real christian and my best friend.  We have a had a great life together, it's not been perfect, but pretty darn close.    and I thank God for him daily!!!

We just got back in from Ky and I must say that we had a wonderful time with family. At one time I looked around to take in all the faces and you know how you can have flash backs of days gone by. In that single moment, many many many of the Thanksgiving Days that I can remember flashed thru my memory. It was one of those times when I would loved to have had those memories on a dvd to pop into a player and share them with everyone there.

You know, things change. They just do. We can't stop the changes from happening. The best we can possibly do is ask God to help us thru those changes.

I seen us all in the house out in the country that all my brothers and I grew up in. The place we called home for longer than I have been on planet earth. Momma in the kitchen cooking and getting the meal ready for no less than 8 to inhale in one fell swoop!! hahaha I see all of us eating the best turkey and dressing that anyone was ever blessed to eat. Momma still the makes the best turkey and dressing and today proved that point.

I seen the many times after the meal that my Dad and brothers would get out in the yard and after Mom and I got the kitchen cleaned up, maybe we would end up out there too. Sometimes it might be rainy and cold and we would all be inside, but where ever we were, we were full and there was always some laughter taking place.

One time, when we got older, just before my brothers started getting married, they had their girlfriends, soon to be wives and after lunch we all went to Split Rock. It was just a field with this humongous rock in it that was split right down the middle. The rock was 10-15 feet tall above ground, and the footprint of the rock was huge. We went and would work our way through the rock. It was a tight squeeze for all of us way back then and I couldn't help but grin today when that thought ran thru my mind, "we would just have to look at it today, because I don't think any of us could get thru the split!" I wish I had pictures of that rock. That was back before cell phones and all I have is memories.

2011 was the last Thanksgiving and Christmas that we had as a family of 8. Dad had gotten sick and was in Creekwood at Russellville. One of the churches in the community had the dining room reserved for their services after church and that church offered to give their church service time to my family so we could have Thanksgiving together and we accepted that offer and spent the day up there with my Dad. Then when Christmas rolled around, they gave us the dining hall again to celebrate Christmas. That was one of the memories that popped into my mind also. The kindness of other people allowed my family to have 2 special events with our Dad that we wouldn't have had otherwise. That ended up being the last of the family celebrations that included all 8 of us, the original crew.

Today, we still have our beautiful Mom and she is still one of the best cooks in the country!!! When she cooks, you can taste the love in it!! I think it's fair to say that she's the glue that sticks us together. I know of no other mother anywhere that is any more loved by her children than my Mom. That is a strong testimony to her.

And, as I think about all that I have to be thankful for, family is at the top of the list. I think about my 5 brothers. Each one of them are good men. Above average by the worlds standards. They are hard working men with work ethics that can NOT be matched, by anyone. They are and have been good providers for their families. Thinking of the 6 of us siblings, we all are a lot grayer than we were a few years ago. There's probably more weight on each of us than there should be. We each have our own aches and pains that get worse with each passing year. But, one thing stays the same. I can shut my eyes and by all the laughter taking place, I can still put a young face with each different laugh that I hear. When I open my eyes, I am right, only the face that I am looking at may be a little more lined from age and the hairline may be receding a bit; there may be glasses where they hadn't always been. But there is always a familiar, smiling face. The face of men that used to be boys. They are now husbands, fathers and grandfathers. And they are my brothers and I'm proud of them and thankful for each and every one of them!!

I am thankful to God for all the blessings that He has heaped upon my family!!! I am thankful for all my nieces and nephews and their husbands and wives and all their children!! When I look at them, I realize that our family is in good hands. There was 4 generations there today. I realize that a lot of families have more generations than that, but I am still thankful for the 4 generations there today.

I said earlier that family was at the top at my list that I am thankful for. But, at the very top of my list, above family, is Christ!!! Without what Christ has done for me thru His shed blood, nothing else matters anyway. I am thankful that Christ loved me enough to die for me so that I could be in right relationship with God. I pray that as I go forward in my own life, that I am forever thankful and grateful for Christ and that I can share that thankfulness and gratefulness with others. Sometimes it just takes the blink of an eye to realize just how abundantly blessed one is and that is exactly what happened to me today in just the moment of a split second. Blessed and highly favored comes to mind!! Thank you God for the many blessings that You have bestowed upon my family!!!

I hope that each of y'all made memories today that will bring you joy in the days to come. And maybe, just for the blink of the eye, there were no empty chairs around the table.
*********************************************
I have to admit that when I read it, it really broke my heart, but then it showed me that God is always in it all. I can look back and see thru my history where God has been my guiding force. Even now, I know He still is. He let me see this to let me know that I can smile and have good memories and that's it's ok to keep living while we are still alive. I know He was right there with my nephew when he died. I know He is with us and will stay with us as we grieve.

So, this year there is another empty chair at the table. I pray it's a long time before there is any more empty chairs. But I know that God will see us thru whatever comes.

I pray that you all have a wonderfully blessed Happy Thanksgiving!!! Thank God for all the blessings, especially the blessing of memories. Write some of them down and pass them on to the younger generation. What a legacy to pass on to. Share with others how you have been able to see the work of God in the patchwork of your life. In the good time, and the bad time. In the happy time and the sad times. In life and yes, even death. Memories are the gifts that I'm most thankful for this year.

Always remember just how much God loves you. I love you too. blessings, hugs and love, patty

Good Afternoon!!!! Gobble, Gobble, Gobble....hahaha

Good afternoon Y'all!!!!     Is it cool where y'all are?     It is in my neck of the woods and I LOVE it!!! There may be some hope of my sweat glands going into hibernation after all!!!!     hahahaha    Yes, indeedie there may be hope!!!!     Today is the 22nd and yesterday morning it was 18 hot degrees where I live and the high was 37!!!!     Just about cool enough for the polar bear dip.    hahahaha     Well, you won't see me anywhere doing the polar bear dip, but if you see me out and about, I will definitely be enjoying the cool brisk air.    It's beginning to feel like fall.     Some of the trees that held on tightly to their leaves during all the hot and dry days of a few weeks ago, have some lovely color now.     The ginko trees that line the streets of my fair city was the most amazing golden yellow yesterday.   The leaves were gently falling against the slight breeze and falling to the ground making a fluffy yellow pillow just directly under the trees.    It was a most lovely sight.     There are also some maple trees that were a spectacular yellow orange and those leaves too, were dancing on the air as the slight breeze caused them to take flight for the short trip to the ground.    Only God can paint a picture as lovely as what I was fortunate to see yesterday.     Those are some of the sights that I listed in my 30 Days of Praise.      I bet y'all have some fantastic sights too, that could be listed in your 30 Days of Praise.

Well, the election is over and the sun came up the next day, just like most of us figured it would.   Like it or lump it, we have a new and very different president to what we have had in a very long time. Time will tell about his legacy to the office, just as it does to every president.    I exercised my right to vote as a proud American citizen.     I was fortunate and blessed to be born on American soil.    I have family members in past generations who fought, bled and died to make sure that this great land remains the "home of the brave and land of the free".    Most Americans can say the same thing.     I seen a picture this morning on the internet of two females standing on the American Flag with one arm raised in some gesture, basically thumbing their noses at what the flag stands for.     The reason I use the word "female" is because it would have been a disgrace to all the ladies and women that I have great respect for.    It was bad enough referring to them as females.

To those two females I say, "If you don't like this country, hit the road!!!   But I guarantee you will not find a free hand out in any other country on the face of the globe like you have here, and if you need help in buying a one way ticket from this great land, just holler, I'll toss a few pennies at you.   Better yet, just save some of your government hand out money and buy it yourself."     I know that doesn't sound like something that should be coming from a Christian, but there was things in scripture that actually made Jesus mad, He never sinned though.    Those same two females have the right desecrate the Bible too.     Americans fought and died for them to have the right to stand on the American flag and make a mockery of it.    Yeshua, Jesus Christ laid down His life for them to spit on Him and take His name in vain.

A lot of people said that if the election went a certain way, they were leaving this country.    They may have been here illegally anyway, I don't know.     But I do remember those same words being said 16 years ago.    I kept praying for this great wooshing sound of all of those hollywood elitists who had said they were leaving, but alas, it never happened.     So, I guess it will still be the same thing.   All that talk, just getting my hopes up only to be let down again.    hahaha    They will never leave because they know they have a GRAVY train here.    Might not be that way where ever else they would go, so we are stuck with them.    And all the sports figures that think they are too good to stand at attention when the anthem is being sung or salute the flag; strap a military rifle over your shoulder and go to foreign soil and stand beside a real American hero that is being shot at for about 15 seconds.    I guarantee you will be ready to salute the flag and stand at attention when the anthem is being sung.     I do not care what anyone's salary is, but I will say this, we put far too much money in the pockets of the sports figures and actors and far too little in pockets of the real American heroes. The men and women who are risking their lives to keep females standing on the flag safe, to keep sports jerks er jocks safe, and all the high and might perverted actors, apers and mimicers  are too selfish to even say "Thank You" to our real American heroes!   Just sayin'.

We have what we would classify as "heroes" mixed up.     No sports figure should EVER be classified as a hero.    Just what have they done to be considered a hero?     Then I will tell them about my father, my uncles, my cousins, my many ancestors putting their lives in harms way to protect all they freedoms that they trash.    My opinion.    But our military men and women should be seen as brave patriots who have put their lives on the line, not only for our country, but for other countries across the globe.    One of my best friends son in law is on foreign soil right now, let me tell you, he is my hero!!!!!     I pray for him and his safety and I also pray that he will be able share Yeshua, Jesus Christ with those he comes in contact with.    Oh, and thank you so much to all the Veterans and active service men and women who have put yourself in harms way for me and every other American and most of the people on planet.   Thank you for your service!!!!!!     God Bless you!!!!

I also pray for the respect of the "office" of President of the United States of America to become what it used to be.     You don't necessarily have to hold the person in that position in high regard, but the office itself should be held in high regard.   The President of the United States should never be bowing to another leader!!!    Just sayin'!!!    That is what I was taught growing up.    I do realize that times have changed, said sarcastically.     You see, most people have little to no respect for themselves, so why show respect for anyone else, much less show respect for the title of an office.    You can't show something you don't have, such as respect.    When people live lives of entitlement, they loose respect for themselves and for others.    The females standing on the flag was not showing respect for them selves, why or how could they show respect to the flag.   They had never been taught self respect.    I promise you they hadn't.    Sports figures live lives of entitlement.     Hollywood elitists live lives of entitlement, therefore no respect for themselves or the common folk.    All the women standing on the flag, and the sports "roids", and actors and mimicers want is your money.    It's getting close to Christmas, so give them your money if you so choose, "but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord".

On to some better and more "funner" stuff now.   hahaha      I am in a small yahoo group and we are doing Christmas tags for everyone that wanted to share the fun and use them to decorate our Christmas Trees in our crafting rooms.   Since I am not putting a tree up in my craft spot, I am going to put a swag across the fireplace and use small clothespins to clip them to the swag.    I made 13 for the swap.   One to keep and 12 to send on to the others in the swap.    Since our trees are not really large, the tags were to be on the smallish side, not to small, but not too large either.

I had a slight interruption just now and thought I would share it.    Hubby is doing some paperwork and he needed several pieces of info, with our marriage certificate being one.    I took time to get it and he copied it and when he handed it back to me, he said, "here is this little piece of gold."    I took it and smiled because he could not have said anything more perfect than that!    37 years later and he still calls that piece of paper a "piece of gold"!     I got one of the good ones, praises be to Yahweh!!!!!

Back to the tags, ggg, I used 140 lb water color paper.    Started with my Lindsay Stamp Gang sprays and I don't know how many colors I used, but lots of different colors.
This was almost the most fun part.   Just spritzing and spraying with all different colors.
I really love the big random splatters of color.   Makes me happpppy!!!!   hahaha
The light picks up all the shimmer in the sprays.
I forgot to take pictures of the process, but this is the tags finished all but the hanger loops.
It was a stamp set of a snow globe and two or three different scenes and I chose the snowy deer scene.   I stamped the deer scene first and then the snow globe.
I colored each little scene and then I took my Uni Signo white pen and added some snow and highlights.    I just love how the background turned out, each one was different.
When I was done with all the stamping, I then used clear wink of stella to add shimmer to the sky portion of the globe and then to add some twinkling highlights on the base.    Then I took my flat colored shell pieces and made a small pool of glue and place a shell piece in it and sprinkled fine glitter over it and let it dry and then shook off the excess glitter.    Glitter....woohoo!!!!     To finish up the tags, I used my structure paste that has sand and gold glitter in it around the edge of the tag.   Glitter.....woohoo!!   Sorry, I got carried away.   hehehe     These are fun little tags and I had a blast making them.    I hope the ladies that get them are happy with them also.    As a final touch, I printed off a list of what all I done to them and glued it to the backside.    Then I signed then and dated them and they are ready to pop in the mail as soon as I get them in the envelopes.    It was a fun project.

As I was reading Scripture this morning, this verse was a verse for the day.   Proverbs 15:30   The light of the eyes rejoices the heart, and good news refreshes the bones.     What is one of the first things that you notice about a person?     For me, it most usually is the eyes.    The eyes tell a lot about a person.     We all know that.    If you see sparkles in someones eyes and their eyes are wide open, you can see that their heart rejoices.    You may not even know what the situation of their lives is, but they have the light in their lives that reflect the joy in their hearts.    That joy is a reflection of the their Messiah, Jesus Christ!!!!     What about good news?    Have you ever been down in the dumps about something and then tells you some good news?     Wow, doesn't that refresh deep down to the bones?    Oh my, yes it does, it is just as refreshing as a cool drink of water!    Good news can put a pep in your step.   It can make you stand just a wee bit taller.    It can make you breathe a little deeper and take more refreshing breaths of air.    Good news just makes you feel good!!!     What about the Good News of Yeshua, Jesus Christ, that is the BEST news!!!    Does that make you feel good?     It should.     Christ Jesus came for the common, for the lowest of the low, He came for everyone!!!!    He came for the shepherds!    And not just for the wealthy, not just for the kings and princes of this age, but for the widow who gave all she had!     He came for the females that stood on the flag!     He came for the sports people who praise themselves for how good they are!     He came for the apers, actors, and mimicers who put themselves on a pedestal!     He came for all those who are out for vengeance on Christ followers!     He came for the scientists who try to disprove Him!     He came for the atheists who deny His existence!     He came for those who try to tack "works of the flesh" to the plan of salvation!    He came for all of us who have been lost in our sin and drowning in a cesspool of messed up lives!     He came for those who are hurting from the loss of loved ones!     He came for those who are dealing with messed up lives right now!

I don't know about you, but I am so THANKFUL beyond measure that Yeshua, Jesus Christ loved me enough to lay His earthly life down for me in such a harsh, hurtful and painful manner.     Yes, He could have called 10,000 angels, but praise Yahweh that He did not!!!!     He was obedient to the call of His Father to the point of saying, "not my will but Yours be done".    And it was done!    And now our eyes can shine and show the joy in our hearts for what He has done for us!!   And now our bones can feel refreshed as we walk with a new pep that we didn't have.    If you have recognized the sin in your life, repented and asked forgiveness for your sin and asked Messiah to be Lord and Savior of your life then this particular verse should speak loudly and clearly to you.    Good News is always refreshing!!!!    Yeshua is always refreshing.    I hope you know the joy of the refreshing of Christ Jesus this Thanksgiving!!!!

I hope and pray that everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving Day!!!!     Take the time to name on each finger something or someone you are thankful for.    Let the people know that you named them as someone you are thankful for.     I am thankful for all the people that I have been fortunate enough to cross paths with.    Some are people I have met physically, but a lot are people I have never met personally, but we have met through the great internet invention.    That includes all of you who read this.    Just know that I am truly grateful for each and every visit that you take the time to make.   Thanks and Happy Turkey Day and eat a bite of dressing for me.   hehehe    gobble gobble gobble

Gobble till you wobble!!!!!!     Or maybe not, hahaha!!!!

Remember God loves you!!!    Till we back meet here again, I love you too!!!    Have an awesome day!   hugs and love, Patty

Christmas Bits and Pieces

Good morning, one and all, Y'all!!  I do pray that this morning finds everyone as chipper as a spring bird on a cold and frosty morn!  How's that for a greeting?  I was up a little late last night with inky and gluey fingers. hahaha  I thought I would show you what I was doin'.

In my last post, I showed you what I had done with some scraps that I probably would not have ever used.  Well, I was back at it.  I'm lovin' this new little picture card.  I used three new stamps. And I also tried something I haven't done much of before.  Using watercolor pencils and then a water pencil to blend the colors.  This is new, so, please view with kind and merciful eyes.  I am lovin' the watercolor pencils.  I finally found some that was what I liked.  I had gotten several different ones over the last little while and none of them worked as well as these.  Maybe, just maybe, I did not know how to make them work.  Hey, give me a little credit, I did say "maybe".  ggg  Anyway, I do hope you like them:

This is the back of my card pictures.  This little easel is affixed to the back with score tape
I bought a paper crafting mag at Michael's yesterday and this little bear stamp was a freebie with the magazine, along with some 5x5 sheets of designer paper, little chipboard images and gold glitter pen.  I love the little bear.  He makes me happy!
My cousin had sent me a card about three years ago with this stamp on it and I have been searching high and low for it ever since.  Jackpot!!  Michael's had it.  I snatched it up like a crazy person, I sure did! gggg
This is a shot of the happy trio.  I know they are not real fancy, but I really did enjoy making them and also trying my hand at watercolor pencils.  It never hurts to try something new.

Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow, y'all!!!!   As I leave you this morning, I leave you with a simple question.  What are you Thankful for?  I could not even begin to tell you what all I am thankful for.  I am thankful for all of y'all, who take time to read my blog.  Thank you!!!  I am thankful for my family!!  I am thankful for my friends!!!  And, yes, I am thankful for all the material blessings that God has heaped upon me!!  And, I am most thankful for my wonderful, kind, loving, generous husband!  He is my number one supporter in life.  When all else around me fails, my husband is there to encourage me to take another breath, take another step, believe in yourself one more time.   For him, I am truly thankful!!  But, at the very top of my list, is Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior!!!  Thank you Jesus, for cleaning me up and giving me a new song to sing, a new word to speak, a new joy in my heart!  The reason I mentioned Jesus Christ last on my list, is because that is what I want you to remember about this visit.  Jesus Christ loves you so much, more than words could ever express!

Have a great day, and be blessed y'all, hugs, Patty

Christmas Cards

Good afternoon, Y'all.  I hope and pray this afternoon finds you snuggled up somewhere all cozy and comfy.  It is now and has been pretty chilly in "these here parts".  At 12:55 pm it is a whopping 44 degrees out side.  Now, I do realize that in places, that is a heat wave.  But, in the south, there's a lot of complainin' goin' on when the temp drops below 65 degree. gggg  In all reality, there's no pleasin' most of us any way, so it doesn't matter what the temp, we will still  be complainin'.  Do I here an "Amen" from anyone?

An update:  It is now 3:07 pm, 38 degrees and "snowin' to beat sixty"!  That's right, y'all, you heard me, "it's snowin' in the south"!  If you don't like it, just wait a few minutes, there'll be a heat wave comin" down the road.  gggg

Ok, enough about the weather. gggg  I have been busy as a little bee over the last few days.  Working on Christmas Cards!  I absolutely love inky, gluey, glittery hands!  It means I have been doin' what I enjoy.  I have gotten several of my Christmas Cards made.  And I must tell you, I am really happy about that.  In the process of making the nice cards with the boxes, I also made a few other cards with scraps that I may have tossed had I not had my thinking cap on.  So, I will show those to you first.
I don't know if you will recognize the shape of the first two cards or not.  They are the centers that I cut out to make my presentation boxes for the other cards I will show you.  It just so happened that I had another shape, that is a coaster, that I had cut several out of.  The coaster fit perfectly over the shape I cut out of the boxes, with just about  1/16" of an inch all the way around.  I ran them through my cuttlebug with a snowflake embossing folder.  For the red one, I pulled out a couple of different scraps of ribbon and wrapped the wide ribbon to the back side and taped it down and tied it in the center with the little piece of red grosgrain ribbon.   Then I had a couple of candy pieces I had cut and popped those on there along with a little pop of glitter.  Ohhh, glitter makes me so happy!!! gggg
For the blue one, pretty much the same as the red one.  The ribbon is metallic ric rac.  It's shiny!!!  Don't make any diff how it sparkles, it just makes me happy!!!
Then I glittered up my little reindeer cut out and popped him on there.  These two are really more like little pictures than they are cards, because on the back side there is an easel.  A flat strip about an inch wide attached to the back of the card with wings protruding from each side is what allows it to stand up perfectly.
This is an Iris fold card.  I do my Iris folding differently than most people do.  I do not actually fold my strips of paper.  I cut my strips to the width needed, not double the width and then fold.  So, a lot of people would not call mine Iris folding.  I don't know what they would call it, and don't really care.  ggg  The way I see, this is my way of doing it, and that's all that matters.  But, I do have another "fav" item to add to my list.  That is liquid pearls.  I used them on each corner of the white part of this card and on the bell on the toe of the elf shoe and on the little triangular parts making the cuff of the shoe.  Love that stuff!!
This was made from a scrap of card stock that I would have tossed most any other day.  But, today, I made a card front.  I used my flourished reindeer stamp and my Merry Christmas stamp.  I also used a couple of green glittery stickers.  Oh, did I happen to mention, glittery and sparkly makes me happy?
This is what all four of them looks like side by side.  Not bad for something I was gonna toss.

These next pics are all of the cards, with easels and boxes.  They are very time consuming.  But, it helped me to take a few weeks to work on all the pieces parts.  I have two of the plastic shoe-boxes from the Dollar Tree  that I have all the components in.  That make putting a card together go pretty quickly.

One last hint or idea about using what you would normally toss out.  The shapes cut from the top of my boxes, where the window is, these would make really neat and nice one time use coasters.  They could be decorated any way you want or leave them plain.  And if you really wanted too, you could use your laminating machine on them once you got them decorated, on both sides, to accommodate more than one occasion, and use them over and over.

Well, there you have it y'all.  This is what I have been up too for a little while.  I still have a few more to go.  But, they will go pretty quickly, since I have all the pieces parts ready to go.

If I don't get back on here before Thanksgiving, I pray that each and every one of you have a Happy Thanksgiving and will take the time to thank God for all He has given you.  For those of you that are not in the U.S. and celebrating Thanksgiving on Thursday, I do pray that you, too, will take the time to thank God for something in your life.  We all have so much to be thankful for every day.  I am thankful for Jesus Christ and all that He has done for me.  We can never thank Him enough.  For some inspirational reading, read Psalm 100.  It is just five verses long.  But, oooohhh the message in those five verses.  Ok, now get to reading, there will be a test later. gggg  Happy Thanksgiving, Yall!!!

My favorite quote for Thanksgiving, "Gobble till you Wobble, Y'all"!!!!! hahaha

hugs and blessings, y'all, Patty
